The Germantown Info Hub and G-Town Radio’s Germantown Voices Project is winding down. We’ve interviewed more than 40 Germantown residents over the past year and gathered many stories about living in Germantown and how the pandemic affected us all.
Now we want to give you the tools to do the same—The Info Hub and G-Town Radio are offering two free workshops to teach residents how to create stories using minimal equipment and resources.
Saturday, Aug. 14, from 11 am to 1 pm, Philadelphia Poet Laureate Trapeta Mayson will conduct an outdoor poetry storytelling workshop at Maplewood Mall. Mayson is widely known for her poetry and creative writing workshops. Due to inclement weather, this event may be postponed. Stay up to date by viewing our Instagram and Facebook.
This workshop is an opportunity to share stories, create poems, and meet your neighbors. This workshop is for people who want to tell stories about Germantown through provided prompts and engaging activities. This outdoor event is open to all.
On Thursday, Aug. 19, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, G-Town Radio will host an indoor citizen reporting workshop at Joseph E. Coleman Library. G-Town Radio Station Manager Tom Casetta will conduct the workshop and teach attendees to report stories using their phones.
This workshop is for those interested in interviewing and recording content for broadcast or podcasts. You must bring a smartphone to participate, that will be your recorder.
