Your dog’s Halloween costume could be the center of attention this year—or at least the center of attention at Maplewood Mall.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1 to 3 p.m, a Fall Pooch Parade and dog Halloween costume contest will grace the Maplewood Mall Drive. Bring your well-dressed canine to the Germantown shopping area to enjoy an afternoon of fun. The event is sponsored by  Stylish Pooch, a dog grooming company in North Philly that was recently featured seen on the Netflix reality series Queer Eye. Stylish Pooch is owned and operated by Philly native Rahanna Gray.

“Because of what we have going on, people probably aren’t trick or treating,” Gray said. “but somebody can still do this and be safe at the same time. Enjoying the outside and Halloween.”

Initially, Gray hoped to plan a pooch parade in the spring but reschedule her ideas after the pandemic began. After careful consideration of social distancing measures, she decided to host the fashion show in October instead. She hopes the pooch parade will become an annual event.

The dog-owner and pup with the best costume will receive a Stylish Pooch gift box valued at $150. The parade will be socially distanced, and face masks are required. Stylish Pooch will also live stream the event.
