Thanksgiving is next week, and inflation rates for turkeys are hitting new highs this year. With approximately 26% of the Germantown neighborhood living in poverty, securing a free one may help lower out-of-pocket expenses this holiday season. Below are some places to secure a free turkey or meal this weekend.

In Germantown

The Cliveden House

The Church of Transformation is partnering with Daniel E. Rumph II Foundation to host their annual turkey giveaway. According to promotional materials, there is also a free coat giveaway. The event will happen Saturday, November 19, from noon until 3 p.m. or until supplies run out. Stop by the Cliveden House at 6401 Germantown Avenue.

Chew & Belfield Neighborhood Club

Chew & Belfield Neighborhood Club is partnering with Save-A-Lot and Chew Deli to host a turkey giveaway this Saturday, November 19, at Noon as long as supplies last. The giveaway will happen at 6218-20 Chew Avenue. For more information, contact Rev. Chester Williams at 215-849-8021.

Corinthian Community Center

Various community organizations and State Representatives Stephen Kinsey and Isabella Fitzgerald will host the 11th Annual Northwest Feeding 1,000. The event intends to bring Germantown, Olney, and West Oak Lane and a free Thanksgiving meal and resources. It will happen this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 6100 N. 21st Street.

Near Germantown

Grocery Outlet

Dare 2 Imagine will host a turkey giveaway this Saturday, November 19, from noon to 2 p.m at 25 W. Hortter Street. You must register in advance at d2ic.org/turkey-giveaway/. There are only 200 turkeys, so register early.

Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church

The church will host its third annual Turkey Drive-Thru Giveaway this Friday, November 18, from 10 a.m. to noon or as long as supplies last. Attendees must be in a vehicle for this event, remain in their car, and be masked. The giveaway will happen at Enon’s 2800 West Cheltenham Avenue location in their East Parking Lot. Thomas & Woods Foundation and Councilmember Isaiah Thomas are hosting their annual turkey and food giveaway. It will be held at 1648 W Hunting Park Avenue this Saturday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. or until supplies run out. Both walk-up and drive-thru pick up are available.
