Amid protests over the killing of George Floyd, there’s a growing movement to reform, defund, or abolish the police. What do these suggestions mean for Germantown? We invite Germantown community members and local Philadelphia journalists to discuss and imagine what public safety could, and should, look like in a neighborhood impacted by overpolicing. 

We’ll review local and national stories on how cities are adjusting police budgets and reframing cops’ roles and have local journalists share with residents how they’re covering police reform right now. We’ll discuss what Germantown residents need to stay informed on this ongoing movement and how journalists can help address these information needs.
